March 3, 2025: Handal Indah Sdn Bhd, one of Malaysia’s leading public-transport operators, reaffirmed its commitment to inclusivity and community support through the handover of a specially designed bus to the OKU Lestari Empowerment Hub under its first-phase support initiative.
The ceremony, held in Johor Bahru, marks a meaningful collaboration between Handal Indah and the OKU Lestari team to improve accessibility for persons with disabilities (OKU). The bus — modified to support mobility-impaired passengers — will serve as a key transportation resource for the Hub’s community activities, training programmes, and livelihood-development initiatives.
Representatives from Handal Indah delivered the vehicle to OKU Lestari Founder Puan Sarnia, whose organisation works closely with members of the OKU community to provide skills training, employment pathways, and empowerment programmes. The contribution aims to reduce transportation barriers faced by OKU individuals and ensure they have safe, dignified and reliable mobility support.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Lim Chern Fang, CMO of Handal Indah shared : “Accessibility is an essential part of our responsibility as a public-transport operator. We are honoured to support OKU Lestari’s mission and to contribute toward a more inclusive mobility environment for the community.”
The donated bus will enable the Hub to transport participants for training sessions, health-support activities, community engagements and economic empowerment programmes, especially those who require tailored mobility support.
