Melaka Sentral Bus Terminal, January 26, 2025 — Handal Indah Sdn Bhd, the network operator of BAS.MY Melaka, launched its Chinese New Year campaign at Melaka Sentral Bus Terminal to support festive-season mobility and promote greater awareness of the BAS.MY Kad Konsesi and travel-pass programmes. The initiative aims to provide residents, families, students and senior citizens with easier access to affordable public transport during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
As part of the campaign, BAS.MY Melaka set up a dedicated registration counter at the terminal, enabling eligible passengers to sign up for the Kad Konsesi directly using their MyKad or through the LUGO mobile app. The concession programme, a key federal government initiative supported by the Ministry of Transport Malaysia and managed by appointed transport agencies, is designed to make public transport more accessible for vulnerable communities. Senior citizens, students below 17, and persons with disabilities (OKU) are entitled to free travel across BAS.MY Melaka services, providing them with a smooth and worry-free travel experience throughout the year.
The campaign also highlighted the newly introduced 30-Day Unlimited Pass (Kad 30 Hari) for Malaysians aged 18 to 59, offering unlimited rides for just RM50 per month. The pass aims to ease the financial burden of frequent travellers; one regular commuter shared how the pass would significantly reduce his monthly expenses, noting that a one-way trip to work typically costs him RM4. With the new pass, he looks forward to a more affordable daily journey.
Passengers have the flexibility to access the Kad Konsesi or Kad 30 Hari digitally through the LUGO app or via MyKad at no additional cost. Those who prefer a physical card may opt for one at a nominal RM10 fee, which can be renewed annually for as long as the BAS.MY programme continues.
Through this festive campaign, Handal Indah and BAS.MY Melaka continue to support the government’s mission to enhance public transport accessibility across the state. The initiative not only encourages more people to choose public transport during the Chinese New Year period but also strengthens long-term awareness of BAS.MY Melaka’s services — ensuring that residents have dependable, affordable and inclusive mobility options throughout the year.ongoing efforts to enhance public transportation services and improve accessibility for all Malaysians.
